Fake Cases Tracker (e.g., AI Hallucinations)
This tracker tracks cases where the filer cites made-up cases in court. While in many cases they are the result of relying on AI, some may be the result of human error. In particular, we have identified cases pre-2023 where made-up cases were cited. To identify these, we ran a search through WestLaw for the keyword "non-existent case" and then manually reviewed the results.

AI Used in Court (Evidence & Interpretation)
This tracker tracks cases where someone cites to AI as evidence or for use in statutory interpretation. This may involve hallucinations and mistakes on the part of the AI system, but it is distinguished from the other tracker in that it is not a made-up case citation resulting from human error or use of AI to generate legal arguments and research.
